THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING TO ADOPT:
- Be sure everyone in the family is on
the same page. If you are looking alone at dogs online please check with your partner before contacting us or applying.
- If you are considering adopting a
puppy be sure everyone in the family is willing and able to be involved in training and the demands of puppy-hood. If you have children do you have the time for the demands of a puppy as well? If you are retired do you have the energy for a puppy?
- Are you prepared to provide the
training and guidance a dog, especially a puppy, will require?
- Given that some of these rescued
dogs have been abused are you prepared to deal with issues that may come up?
- Your place on any given dogs'
adoption list is determined by when you submit the application form. You can send a quick email first if you want to know how many applicants are before you.
- Home check is done in advance or
upon arrival of the dog
- Meet and greet is arranged after
dog's arrival in Victoria.
- Trial period is recommended
- Adoption is finalized
(Homes are chosen in the best interest of the dog)

MINA
It would be hard to find a more lovable dog than
this. Mina is right there when she sees you, nuzzling
up and giving you a kiss. She is estimated to be
around six years of age and she weighs 25 kilos.
She would suit a low to moderately active home
and would enjoy her daily walks or romps in the
dog park and a cozy place to lay at your feet. If
you are looking for a super loyal and affectionate
dog this is the girl for you. Best guess Chocolate
Lab mix.
CURRENTLY IN MEXICO PENDING APPLICATIONS.
MINITA
Minita is eight months old and will be a medium to large dog
when full grown. She currently weighs 20 kilos. She has a
gorgeous black/deep brown coat and looks like a labrador
cross. Minita would suit an active home where she can get
lots of exercise. She's a real sweetie but is not comfortable
around children. She has lived with cats but can be quite
barky around them. Minita will need a home that will be
tolerant of her slight dribbles of urine after she goes out to
pee. This could be a permanent condition for Minita and
could be related to her tail docking.
MINITA IS IN FOSTER CARE IN COURTENAY, B.C.

MAYA
Remember this girl previously named
Trixie? She arrived in rescue last year and
was placed in a home here in
Guanajuato. Unfortunately, her guardian
suffered a stroke and is no longer able to
care for her. Maya is 2 years old and
weighs 10 kilos. Her left hind leg is
deformed (missing the foot). See picture
on right. She gets along just fine. Maya is
an affectionate and playful girl and
although she's small she doesn't take any
flack from the bigger dogs. A real
sweetie.

JOLIE is 4 years old, a mixed breed, sweet female weighing 40
pounds. She is very friendly with everyone and wants all the
attention. She plays with other dogs after getting to know them.

DAL
This big handsome dude is around 2 years old and
appears to be a Dalmation or Dalmation cross. Dal
is a big lovable guy once he gets to know you and
loves his belly rubs. He is fine with other dogs, mostly
ignores them and tends to get bossed around except
for the occasional male and for this reason would be
best with another female, not male, dog in the
household, if there is one. Dal loves his blankets and
loves to throw them around, and can be quite
possessive of them, and this might be something he
needs work with. This guy would suit a home with lots
of property to run and definitely needs lots of
exercise, loving and obedience training.. Dal weighs
25 kilos. IN MEXICO PENDING APPLICATIONS.

MANITO
Oh Manito, what a cutie! This little guy is the
son of one of last year's pregnant rescues, a
cocker spaniel. He is a super sweet,
affectionate fellow, almost a year old, and
weighs about 5 kilos. He needs to put on a bit
of weight. He great with other dogs, cats and
kids.
IN MEXICO PENDING APPLICATIONS.
GUERA
Poor Guera! She must have been seriously chewing on bones or
chain link. Guera was found as a pregnant stray last fall. She has
lived with lots of other dogs and some cats since then and has
improved from her timidity. She will now allow a gentle stroke
and some loving words. Guera is a docile and noble lady. She
is a Golden Retreiver or GRMix. Guera's sad eyes say a lot, but
we hold out hope that an adoption into a loving home will
change those eyes to happy and trusting ones. IN MEXICO
