Crossing borders to help Mexico's companion animals
  All dogs are vet checked, de-wormed, vaccinated, spayed or neutered.  Adults are tested for blood
parasites, including heartworm. Adoption fee is $300. Application form can be downloaded from the
left-hand side of this page, completed and emailed to marlene@mex-can.org. Home check is required.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.

THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE
APPLYING TO ADOPT:          
  • Be sure everyone in the family is on
    the same page. If you are looking
    alone at dogs online please check
    with your partner before contacting
    us or applying.
  • If you are considering adopting a
    puppy be sure everyone in the
    family is willing and able to be
    involved in training and the
    demands of puppy-hood. If you
    have children do you have the time
    for the demands of a puppy as well?
    If you are retired do you have the
    energy for a puppy?
  • Are you prepared to provide the
    training and guidance a dog,
    especially a puppy, will require?
  • Given that some of these rescued
    dogs have been abused are you
    prepared to deal with issues that
    may come up?
    ADOPTION PROCESS
  • Your place on any given dogs'
    adoption list is determined by when
    you submit the application form. You
    can send a quick email first if you
    want to know how many applicants
    are before you.
  • Home check is done in advance or
    upon arrival of the dog
  • Meet and greet is arranged after
    dog's arrival in Victoria.
  • Trial period is recommended
  • Adoption is finalized
(Homes are chosen in the
best interest of the dog)

Benji Girl
is a 2 year old female, terrier mix. Mixed with
??? She has sort of short legs for her body.
She's just adorable with a personality to
match.










Paco 2
is a 2 year old mixed breed. He is completely
housebroken, excellent with other dogs and
great with kids. Paco is also leash trained and
has an excellent, casual disposition.







Squeak
is very friendly, good with other dogs,
housebroken, walks with leash.
He can "squeak" through a very small hole,
that's why he's called Squeak.
So, secure fencing is a must.



Rancha Dulce
This amazing dog is unbelievably sweet and
gentle in spite of her horrible neglect. As a
young puppy, a string was tied around her
neck. As she grew it was never removed. It
had embedded into her neck. One of our
wonderful vets removed it and Rancha D.
is doing great. She's ready for a family she can
call her own.
She's great with other dogs and kids.



Paco
If you've been checking our website
frequently you'll know who this not so little
guy anymore is. Paco is making progress!
Two more negative skin scrapings from
the vet and he's ready to be neutered and
vaccinated. Thanks to those of you who
donated towards his vet care. We are still
appealing for donations towards these
costs  which have exceeded $400.



Francisca

This energetic Dalmation or Dalmation cross
is around 7 months old. She's learning
sit and down. Needs lots of exercise.

Mina
Rescued back in August of 2009, Mina is still
looking for her forever home to retire.
This super sweet girl isn't looking for much.
She'd love a cozy spot at your feet and daily
leash walks. Mina is around 5-7 years old and
was rescued from an empty property with her
pups. Best breed guess is Chocolate Lab X Pit
bull
Very pushy with her loving! Would suit a
home with an older couple or person  and
without cats.
She weighs around 55-60 pounds.
