IN MEMORY OF LUNA
Luna came into my life three years ago.  She was a tough gal
and made sure everyone knew it. Taking her for a walk
was like marching behind an automaton. Driving forward,
her ears perked, she was ready to pounce on any squirrel,
dog, cat or leaf that caught her eye.
In April of 2007 Luna moved with me from Victoria, Canada
to her home town of Guanajuato, Mexico, where she had
originally been rescued from the street. She became a
different dog. She had the freedom now to run around
the 1/3 acre of fenced land and bark at whatever she wanted
and whenever she wanted to, jump at the birds and squirrels
and she actually made friends with all the other dogs that
came to and went from the house. She still got into a good
scrap now and then with her archenemy Lola. She became
the matriarch to all the rescued puppies. They rolled all over
her, bit her ears and licked her adoringly, all the while she
just moved her head from side to side with great patience and tolerance.
Luna was diagnosed with lymphoma three months ago. On May 9, 2008 she was euthanized with
love and respect, without suffering and having experienced a wonderful last year of life
being home again.
URGENT!
We are now beginning to rescue
dogs from the local "dog pound".
This facility is horrific and sadly we
are not able to rescue all the 50
dogs per week that are captured
and killed. Please help us to rescue,
treat and place some of these poor
creatures. Any donation will help.
