TRIAL PERIOD CONTRACT

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION.

Starting June 1, 2022 our adoption fee will be $750 CAD. This change is being made in an attempt to come closer to covering our costs. * This fee includes transport to Vancouver/Victoria, B.C., and all vetting, vaccinations DHPP+L+C, booster, and rabies, spay or neuter, worming, flea/tick prevention, dental cleaning if necessary, and any other procedures that may be required for individuals such as mange treatment, x-rays, orthopaedics, etc. We also do a blood test for ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, leishmaniasis and heart worm. For older dogs, or ones that come to us in very poor condition, we do a blood and urine analysis. And, your dog crate.
Please submit an application for the dog you are interested in. Most of our dogs have not been exposed to children or cats, and are not house trained, so expect to do some work in that regard. In general, we do not recommend our dogs for a home with toddlers.
Once application is received we will contact you if we feel you're a suitable candidate and request photos of your home and yard environment. We provide videos and photos after you have been selected and arrange a travel date and pick up arrangements.
We highly recommend a two-week trial period or fostering to adopt to ensure a good match is made.  No fee is collected until you have made your decision to finalize adoption.
We ask that you consider thoroughly whether you are ready for a new canine companion in your household and ensure that everyone in the household is on the same page. Ask your hubbies, please, before contacting us!  No impulse inquiries, please!  Have you read the dog's biography carefully and considered all points?
Our resources and time is limited, so we would prefer not to spend it checking out homes where all things have not been considered thoughtfully. Thank you.

WINNIE     SPAYED FEMALE
2 YEARS     23 KILOS
BREED GUESS:  SHEPHERD X
Winnie is a beautifully brindled dog looking for a moderately active home.    She is eager to please and loves direction and routine.  She gets along well with other dogs and is not interested in conflict and is very respectful, although rambunctious and will follow you around the home.  She has mild resource guarding. Winnie is able to spend a few hours daily at home and doesn't display separation anxiety, however we don't want her in a home being left for more than 4 hours.  She loves going on adventure hikes and has good recall.  She is house trained and crate trained Although she has lived with cats, we feel she would best be suited in a home without them.  She can live in a home with the right canine companion. Not tested with kids.

WINNIE IS CURRENTLY IN VICTORIA BC

DONA.     FEMALE.
1.5 YEARS.   13 KILOS
BREED GUESS:  BORDER COLLIE X WHIPPET X

Dona is seeking a home with someone who is familiar with slightly shy dogs.  Although we wouldn't say she is a snuggly dog, she does seek out pets and scratches and will lay nearby you always. She's getting along with the dogs at her foster, however initially she was stalking the much larger dog, but now they are friends. Therefore, she may require some time and a few meetings to feel okay around other (larger) dogs.  Dona is a barker and growler along the fence line so redirection will be needed in those moments.  On her walks, which she is beginning to enjoy, she is good with smaller dogs, more nervous and leery of larger dogs. Dona sleeps and eats in her crate and is house trained.  She will whine when you leave the home so she would best suit someone home half days, and not in a condo or apartment.  This girl has potential, we feel, to do agility, with the right owner. This would also help her with her confidence. Dona is waiting for that special home!

PATTY
Neutered Male.  1.5 years.
13 kilos.
Patricio is a lovely, lively and comical dog looking for a moderately active home.  He does well with other dogs and is quite affectionate with humans, although still a little apprehensive at first.  He does like to go for walks but is quite a puller on leash, so a little work with that will be necessary.  Patty-Cake needs some basic training, confidence building and slow exposure to new things.  He's a willing learner although a bit exuberant!  Not cat tested.  Has met older children without a problem.
History: Found as a stray.

YOGI     MALE (to be neutered at 18 months)
9 MONTHS   23 KILOS
BREED GUESS:

Oh, big beautiful Yogi!  This boy is super lovely, loving, mellow, playful, just slightly cautious with new people.  Despite his background, Yogi has so far grown into a nice dog.  He still has some growing to do so he'll do best in a home familiar with larger dogs.  He can easily live with another dog in the household.  Yogi is currently on a raw diet which suits him well.  He loves going on adventure hikes, he is learning recall, and can sit quietly if instructed to do so.   He has not been tested with cats or children.

MOJO.  NEUTERED MALE. 4-5 YEARS.  5 KILOS
BREED GUESS: POODLE X SCHNAUZER

Mojo is looking for a special home.
Don't know quite where to start with this little man!
As you can see, he was in horrific condition at the time of his rescue.  He has had to overcome so many things, and has done so with such a strong will to survive. This is Mojo today:  Spunky and learning now to play and ask for attention from a human.  He is not much interested in other dogs. In fact, he really dislikes some of them and is quite a growly boy at times, especially around another male dog that he sees as a challenge.  For this reason we feel he will succeed best in a home as an only dog.  He can live with cats (sleeps in bed with two of them).  He still has a couple of medical issues we are working on:  High protein in his urine (proteinuria) and high cholesterol.  He's on a special diet at the moment.  He has received a lot of veterinary care including: blood transfusion, dental cleaning, treatment for tongue laceration, treatment for maggot-infested injury to paw, corneal ulcer, and paralysis on one side of his body.  But, look at him now!  If you're looking for a little dog to cuddle (he's just now learning that this is ok), go for short walks, and spend time expanding his world, maybe Mojo is the one for you.  However, do not expect him to be social with other dogs.  He just wants a human all to himself.  Please note: he is not house trained yet and due to marking in the house will need a belly band for a while.

History: Surrendered to veterinary clinic.

IN GUANAJUATO, MEXICO.

Picture
This is the horrendous condition Mojo was in when he was surrendered to the veterinary clinic.  We will never know the whole truth about his life or how he got to this state.  However, we suspect he was in a home and neglected until someone finally "noticed" him.
