FOSTER/TRIAL CONTRACT

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION.

Starting June 1, 2022 our adoption fee will be $750 CAD. This change is being made in an attempt to come closer to covering our costs. * This fee includes transport to Vancouver/Victoria, B.C., and all vetting, vaccinations DHPP+L+C, booster, and rabies, spay or neuter, worming, flea/tick prevention, dental cleaning if necessary, and any other procedures that may be required for individuals such as mange treatment, x-rays, orthopaedics, etc. We also do a blood test for ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, leishmaniasis and heart worm. For older dogs, or ones that come to us in very poor condition, we do a blood and urine analysis. And, your dog crate.
Please submit an application for the dog you are interested in. Most of our dogs have not been exposed to children or cats, and are not house trained, so expect to do some work in that regard. In general, we do not recommend our dogs for a home with toddlers.
Once application is received we will contact you if we feel you're a suitable candidate and request photos of your home and yard environment. We provide videos and photos after you have been selected and arrange a travel date and pick up arrangements.
We highly recommend a two-week trial period or fostering to adopt to ensure a good match is made.  No fee is collected until you have made your decision to finalize adoption.
We ask that you consider thoroughly whether you are ready for a new canine companion in your household and ensure that everyone in the household is on the same page. Ask you hubbies, please, before contacting us!  No impulse inquiries, please!  Have you read the dog's biography carefully and considered all points?
Our resources and time is limited, so we would prefer not to spend it checking out homes where all things have not been considered thoughtfully. Thank you.

CHARLIE 8 YEARS 5 KILOS.
BREED GUESS: MIN PINSCHER X CHIHUAHUA X DACHSHUND

Charlie is in need of a quiet, home with a person or couple. He's not suitable for a home with children, or a home with a lot of noise, action, comings and goings, as it can stress him and start him barking. He is definitely not for an apartment or condo environment.  Charlie learned so much in his amazing foster home especially to trust and be a dog that seeks affection and a lap to settle on.  He is now ready for his forever home.  He likes to snuggle under the blankets, loves to play ball and toss around his crinkly fluffy toys.  He's a real character!  He would be fine with another dog in the home as long as he/she is not in his face all the time.  Maybe a female dog his own size?  Charlie is crate trained and almost completely house trained if he receives frequent outings to do his business.  When you get to know Charlie you’ll fall in love!

OLIVER MALE 3 YEARS 12 KILOS
BREED GUESS: POODLE X

Oliver is part sugar, part spice. He is a rambunctious, playful clown of a dog that is also affectionate and somewhat needy for affection. A home with someone home most of the time would suit this boy best and with someone wanting and able to help tap into his potential. We think he’s pretty smart but needs direction. He would absolutely love to romp in large areas once his recall is perfected. He is so agile and silly.  He can get pretty amped up so will need to learn “settle”, and he can be reactive to strangers or people who try to approach him.  No children please.

CHUCK. MALE.  4 YEARS.  24 KILOS.
BREED GUESS:  SHEPHERD X LABRADOR

Chuck is a very affectionate dog with humans, but can have some reactivity towards other dogs (especially fences and gates).  He is co-existing with several other dogs at the shelter, however we feel that he would have more success as an only dog in a home. Medium energy.  Experience with reactivity and protection against other dogs required.  No kids, please.  Not tested with cats.
