TRIAL PERIOD CONTRACT

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION.

Starting June 1, 2022 our adoption fee will be $750 CAD. This change is being made in an attempt to come closer to covering our costs. * This fee includes transport to Vancouver/Victoria, B.C., and all vetting, vaccinations DHPP+L+C, booster, and rabies, spay or neuter, worming, flea/tick prevention, dental cleaning if necessary, and any other procedures that may be required for individuals such as mange treatment, x-rays, orthopaedics, etc. We also do a blood test for ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, leishmaniasis and heart worm. For older dogs, or ones that come to us in very poor condition, we do a blood and urine analysis. And, your dog crate.
Please submit an application for the dog you are interested in. Most of our dogs have not been exposed to children or cats, and are not house trained, so expect to do some work in that regard. In general, we do not recommend our dogs for a home with toddlers.
Once application is received we will contact you if we feel you're a suitable candidate and request photos of your home and yard environment. We provide videos and photos after you have been selected and arrange a travel date and pick up arrangements.
We highly recommend a two-week trial period or fostering to adopt to ensure a good match is made.  No fee is collected until you have made your decision to finalize adoption.
We ask that you consider thoroughly whether you are ready for a new canine companion in your household and ensure that everyone in the household is on the same page. Ask your hubbies, please, before contacting us!  No impulse inquiries, please!  Have you read the dog's biography carefully and considered all points?
Our resources and time is limited, so we would prefer not to spend it checking out homes where all things have not been considered thoughtfully. Thank you.

LIZZIE      FEMALE        10 MONTHS      11 KILOS
BREED: SEE DNA RESULTS THROUGH 'EMBARK' ABOVE
ADOPTION PENDING!
Lanky, Busy Lizzie!  This lovely and playful girl is looking for an active home.  She can live with another dog that likes to play, but be warned Lizzie is a very vocal player!  We're working on a few things such as leash pulling and impulse control.  She is pretty much house trained (consistent visits outdoors) and she is crate trained.  We've not tested her with children or cats.. We feel she will be best matched with an active person or couple that have the time to dedicate themselves to providing her with consisten training, exercise and socialization (not the dog park).  The lovely Miss Lizzie came into our care after being rescued by the Fundación Corazon Animal in Guanajuato, after her abuse was reported to them.  Sadly, her eye was so damaged (cause unknown) that it had to be removed.

DUQUE (DUKE)      MALE        1.5 YEARS      20 KILOS
BREED GUESS:  BORDER COLLIE X HUSKY

Duke is a young, playful dog looking for a moderately active home.  He is co-existing well with other dogs at the shelter, male and female, and is slowly being exposed to the world outside of the shelter, making visits on leash to the local plaza.  He would not suit an apartment or condo living.  A fenced yard is a must for this boy although he doesn't seem to have any escape tendencies as some Huskies have, nor the very high energy.  Are you looking for a walking or hiking companion.  Duke has not been tested with cats or children.

CICI      FEMALE        3 YEARS     5 KILOS
BREED GUESS:  CHIHUAHUA  X

Cici is super affectionate, needy dog looking for a home and lap to call her own.  She does not want to share her home with any other dogs and should not be expected to socialize with other dogs outside of the home.  If you're looking for a cuddle companion and someone to accompany you on a quiet stroll Cici might suit you.

CHUCK. MALE.  4 YEARS.  24 KILOS.
BREED GUESS:  SHEPHERD X LABRADOR

Chuck is a very affectionate, goofy fellow that has been with us for a few months.  He was initially a bit growly with the other male dogs but has gradually become more relaxed and playful with all the other dogs at the shelter.  He previously lived with several dogs and cats and a 10-year-old boy.
History: Surrendered to the shelter after being attacked by several dogs in his former home

ADA.  FEMALE. 2 YEARS. 9 KILOS
BREED GUESS: AUSSIE X

Ada, active Ada, is looking for an active home.  She is going to enjoy plenty of adventures and exercise with direction.  She's a very smart girl, affectionate and plays well with other dogs. She does however have the occasional tendency to want to nip while playing rambunctiously.  If you enjoy hiking and have the time for a dog that requires both physical and mental stimulation Ada may be for you.
History: Pulled from Animal Control Guanajuato.

PATRICIO. Neutered Male.  2 year.  11 kilos.
Patricio is a lovely dog looking for a moderately active home.  He does well with other dogs and is quite affectionate with humans. We still need to have him experience more of the outside world during walks and other interactions.  He has not been cat or kid tested.
History: Found as a stray.

Picture
CHITA.  Spayed Female.
SURPRISE!  8-10 years old!   8 kilos.
Breed Guess: Schnauzer X Dachshund
Right: Chita's mother

Chita is a darling, slightly submissive dog that is looking for a low to moderately active home.  She would love to go for walks. We expect she will initially be nervous around new surrounding and traffic, so you'll have to take it slow with her.  She's super affectionate and would just love to have a home of her own.  Chita did live in a home but she will need a brush up on the house training.

Breed Guess: Poodle X

Lively and loving little Polo is looking for a moderately active home. He would like to go for his daily walks and then cuddle up with you for the rest of the day.  He is fine with other dogs.  Polo is a little on the needy side so he does jump up with excitement to get attention.

VALERY.  FEMALE.  1 YEAR.  13 KILOS.
BREED GUESS: PIT BULL + RAT TERRIER X HEELER

Valery is a small/medium and stocky dog looking for a moderately active home (not first-time dog owner).  She is learning manners on her walks and doing well.  She is playful with the other dogs at the shelter, but is unknown around cats and children.  Valery really wants to be around her human(s) so a home where someone is home most of the day or willing to work on possible noise making when you're away from the house is preferable.  No condos or apartments, please.
History: Abandoned at the doorstep of shelter neighbours.
