Woody

 Male • Malinois X   • 1  1/2 years • 16 kilos

Woody was rescued as a wee pup of eight weeks, along with his siblings. He was the only one that made it, the others died of parvo virus.  He is now a healthy, active, and super lovable guy. He is barky with new people, but if you give him a few pieces of cheese you'll win him over. This adorable dude is super agile, he can jump a 5' fence and scale chain link, so a very secure yard is a must.  He's great with other dogs and is learning not to be so protective over things like his blanket, his human, or his food. If you have experience with Shepherd dogs and are committed to keeping up with training and all of Woody's needs please get in touch. Please, we don't want him left alone all day while you're at work.

Nico  ADOPTION PENDING
Male * Yorkie X Dachshund X  Chi * 2 yrs * 4 kilos

Nico is a very agile, spunky, playful and affectionate little terrier dude looking for a home. He can live with another dog, probably a female, as he has a bit of the macho attitude!  He will need to be in a home (NOT an apartment or condo left alone most of the day) as he can be expressive if feeling lonely.  A fenced yard is essential.  He'll need some work on leash and exploring new places and surrounding, around traffic and loud noises. Nico was found running on a highway in Central Mexico.

Guera

 Female - Mystery Mix - 3 years - 13 kilos
Guera (Whitey) is a submissive small/medium dog that will remain under observation for behavioural and health reasons.  She is still very tentative around new humans, especially men. She has various scars either inflicted by humans or are dog bites. She was found as a stray at an industrial park. Guera loves to play with other dogs.

Yanta
Female  *  Schnauzer X Sharpei  *  1 year  *  12 kilos
Yanta is looking for that special home that can provide her with the direction and guidance she requires as a dog-dominant terrier mix.  She is lovely with people, maybe shy at first, but with some dogs she wants to be the boss. Yanta will do best in a home as an only dog, with someone familiar with stubborn, but sensitive, dogs, where she can go for daily walks and receive cuddles at home. She is quite a vocal dog so we do not recommend an apartment or condo for her.

Chata C.     ADOPTION PENDING
Female *  Boxer *  3 years *  19 kilos

Chata C. (C. standing for Corta because she has a docked tail) is a sweet and playful dog. She previously lived in a home with a cat.  She's a tad on the shy side with people at first. She would like a moderately active home, with a good run or walk every day.  A home experience with the Boxer breed would be preferred.

Morgan

Male • Lab X  • 2 years • 24 kg

Morgan has been at the shelter for 1 1/2 years, hoping to find his forever home with that someone special. Morgan is a super affectionate dog and pretty high on the "galoot" factor and slightly predatory. He loves to chase a ball or toy and is very good at retrieving.  He gets along with most of the dogs he is co-existing with, but he also has a macho attitude around other males. He would best suit a home, perhaps with a female dog companion, where he has plenty of room to run and play, but we do not suggest him for the dog park.  He's a big handsome boy looking for just the right place where someone else can take charge!  Morgan was rescued as a puppy with an injury to his left hind foot which was surgically repaired and does not cause him any discomfort or impede him in any way. Very active boy.

Valentino   ARRIVING MAY 5

Male • German Shepherd  • 6 years • 27 kg

Valentino is a sweet, affectionate dog looking for a retirement home. He has not been tested with cats or children. He is getting along with the other dogs at the Mex-Can shelter so far, but as he gets stronger his confidence level may go up. He has just been neutered so we hope that any macho reactivity will be diminished. As he was found wandering the highway, as an abandoned dog or escapee, we assume he has not lived indoors and will require house training and/or help with male marking behaviour. Valentino's ear tips have been damaged by flies. X-rays show that at some point his ilium bone was fractured and has healed on its own. Photos of his X-rays are available upon request.  Can you give this handsome fellow a home where he can be loved for the rest of his years?  VALENTINO IS SCHEDULED TO FLY TO VANCOUVER MAY 5, THEN OVER TO VANCOUVER ISLAND.

Female  * Boxer  *  4 years  *  21 kilos

This girl just couldn't catch a break! She was rescued in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico as a stray with puppies, with a bad case of demodectic mange, had a skin fungus, she is partially deaf, and then she tested positive for ehrlichia, and TVT (transmissable veneral tumour).  What else? But, she recovered and survived due to several ongoing treatments and while in the care of her rescuer, where she continues to wait for her forever home while cohabiting with other dogs and cats.
Can you give her a break?

Able to travel to BC between November 2017 and May 2018. .
