TRIAL PERIOD CONTRACT

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION.

Starting June 1, 2022 our adoption fee will be $750 CAD. This change is being made in an attempt to come closer to covering our costs. * This fee includes transport to Vancouver/Victoria, B.C., and all vetting, vaccinations DHPP+L+C, booster, and rabies, spay or neuter, worming, flea/tick prevention, dental cleaning if necessary, and any other procedures that may be required for individuals such as mange treatment, x-rays, orthopaedics, etc. We also do a blood test for ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, leishmaniasis and heart worm. For older dogs, or ones that come to us in very poor condition, we do a blood and urine analysis.
Please submit an application for the dog you are interested in. Most of our dogs have not been exposed to children or cats, and are not house trained, so expect to do some work in that regard. In general, we do not recommend our dogs for a home with toddlers.
Once application is received we will contact you if we feel you're a suitable candidate and request photos of your home and yard environment. We provide videos and photos after you have been selected and arrange a travel date and pick up arrangements.
We highly recommend a two-week trial period or fostering to adopt to ensure a good match is made.  No fee is collected until you have made your decision to finalize adoption.
We ask that you consider thoroughly whether you are ready for a new canine companion in your household and ensure that everyone in the household is on the same page. Ask your hubbies, please, before contacting us!  No impulse inquiries, please!  Have you read the dog's biography carefully and considered all points?
Our resources and time is limited, so we would prefer not to spend it checking out homes where all things have not been considered thoughtfully. Thank you.

SIMON.   NEUTERED MALE.   2-3 YEARS.   18 KILOS
BREED GUESS: LABRADOR X

Simon is a happy go lucky dog looking for a moderately active home with a dog savvy family. Simon is an affectionate fellow and has some basic training. He is familiar with being exposed to the streets and the action that comes with it.  He was wandering the streets for some time before he walked himself into the vet clinic on that lucky day over a year ago.  He gets along with most dogs except for super macho dogs that try to challenge him.  Simon has not been tested with small children or cats yet.  He loves to play ball and play in general

VALERY   SPAYED FEMALE.   2-3 YEARS.   18 KILOS
BREED GUESS: CATTLE DOG X PIT BULL

Valery is a super sucky chunky female dog that is looking for a human companion.  She may not take to everyone she meets initially, but once she knows you she's a mush pot.  Valery is currently on a routine to expose her to more things outside of the shelter gates.  At times she can be overwhelmed so she'll need an experienced person to call her own and guide her.  Not good with cats.

MOJO.  NEUTERED MALE. 4-5 YEARS.  5 KILOS
BREED GUESS: POODLE X SCHNAUZER

Mojo is looking for a special home.
Don't know quite where to start with this little man!
As you can see, he was in horrific condition at the time of his rescue.  He has had to overcome so many things, and has done so with such a strong will to survive. This is Mojo today:  Spunky and learning now to play and ask for attention from a human.  He is not much interested in other dogs. In fact, he really dislikes some of them and is quite a growly boy at times, especially around another male dog that he sees as a challenge.  For this reason we feel he will succeed best in a home as an only dog.  He can live with cats (sleeps in bed with two of them).
He has received a lot of veterinary care including: blood transfusion, dental cleaning, treatment for tongue laceration, treatment for maggot-infested injury to paw, corneal ulcer, and paralysis on one side of his body, and several blood/urine analysis. His most recent done on September 1, 2023.  See files to the right.  A physical done the same he presented with luxating patellas, which we will help with medication and possibly surgery if necessary.
Look at him now!  If you're looking for a little dog to cuddle (he's just now learning that this is ok), go for short walks, and spend time expanding his world, maybe Mojo is the one for you.    He just wants a human all to himself.  Please note: he is not fully housetrained and may need a belly band in the house for a while.

History: Surrendered to veterinary clinic.

IN GUANAJUATO, MEXICO.

This is the horrendous condition Mojo was in when he was surrendered to the veterinary clinic.  We will never know the whole truth about his life or how he got to this state.  However, we suspect he was in a home and neglected until someone finally "noticed" him.

NACHO.  NEUTERED MALE.
20 KILOS.  9 MONTHS.
Here is Baxter's appeal looking for a home for Nacho.

Nacho is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever had, and I'd keep him in a second if it worked with my longterm plans. He's got some puppy energy sometimes, but he also knows how to chill. Also, he won't leave your side so he doesn't need a leash when you go out unless you'll be around lots of traffic.
He has been dewormed, deflea-ed, and has had his first round of vaccines. He is scheduled to be neutered on 12 September. He is house-trained and almost crate-trained.
He might bark for a few minutes when he misses you (something I'm working on now) but he doesn't make a peep when you're around. Nacho is currently a homebody, and a bit intimidated by the people and sounds of centro, but a few more visits and he'll get used to it.
